We take our responsibilities for child welfare seriously, and this will always be our top priority. We want to provide the very best coaching experience to your child, and we feel the responsible thing to do is to explain our way of working clearly.
Our preference is for a responsible adult to remain with each child during each coaching session. When your child is used to the Academy and is comfortable to be left in our care, then we may relax this approach.
We operate on a not-for-profit basis, supported by Hollins Grove Conservative Club but operating independently and non-politically. Our aim is simply to provide cue sports coaching to children in our community. Our coaches work voluntarily and do not receive payment in any kind. The fee we charge for admission goes entirely towards running costs and developing our coaching offering.
We take pride in the way we conduct ourselves, and we expect the same in return. Any children or adults behaving inappropriately will be asked to leave, and whilst we don’t want to turn people away, we reserve the right to refuse admission for repeat offenders.
To enhance your child’s participation, our coaches will sometimes take written notes during your child’s practice sessions. The purpose of this is to provide accurate, timely and relevant feedback to aid progress and demonstrate how your child is improving over time.
We will frequently capture images and video footage of the coaching activities at the Academy for use in promotional and publicity purposes. This could be in any format, including via the internet or social media. If you do not wish your child to appear in this way, then let us know and we’ll do our best to exclude them from our output (or at least ensure they are suitably anonymised).
In addition, we may take still images or record short videos of your child when completing practice drills as part of our one-to-one feedback process. We will only do this if a responsible adult is present, and we will always ask first. These will be used to give immediate feedback and as a tool to demonstrate improvement over time.
We may use the written notes, together with any images or footage, to support our own personal development as coaches, both within and outside the Academy. This is known as Continuous Professional Development (CPD). For example, achieving the higher coaching grades requires comprehensive case studies obtained through work with existing clients. If we wish to do this, we will seek permission from a responsible adult first.
